The largest of the three Maritime Provinces New Brunswick was one of the original four provinces that made up the Dominion of Canada on July 1, 1867. Today New Brunswick is home to about 750 000 people; it is also the only province in Canada to be constitutionally bilingual.

 

If exporting one third of the worlds French fries wasn't enough, New Brunswick is also home to the Saint John River, which flows backwards during high tide. Speaking of water, the Bay of Fundy has the worlds largest tides with the greatest mean spring range of 15 meters.
